The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation is selected as the Charity Partner of the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant 2017. Paul Alofs, President and CEO of the Foundation expressed, “We are very excited and thankful for the support from Fairchild TV and the Chinese community. Every dollar raised from this initiative will be used to support medical research, patient treatments and educational programs. As such, patients from Toronto and other countries in the world can benefit from The Princess Margaret’s great work.”
Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world and the only comprehensive facility in Canada devoted exclusively to cancer research and patient care. The Princess Margaret’s work covers all types of cancer, including those that commonly affect the Chinese community. Thanks to the generosity of donors and the dedication of hundreds of medical professionals, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre continues to make significant breakthroughs in many crucial aspects of cancer care over the years. An example of the great work happening at The Princess Margaret is its focus on immunotherapy. In recent years, “Immunotherapy” has developed rapidly. This is a new treatment that stimulates the patient’s own immune system to fight cancer cells. The Princess Margaret has the most comprehensive immunotherapy program in Canada, bringing new hope to patients. Alofs also said, “Over the next 15 years, a 40% increase in new cancer cases is expected. Therefore, The Princess Margaret’s life-changing mission deeply requires the generous support from the public. Together, we can conquer cancer in our lifetime.”
