Organized by Fairchild Television, and co-organized by Talentvision, Fairchild Radio, and Popular Lifestyle & Entertainment Magazine, the “Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant 2018” will be held on December 14th (Friday) at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre Hall G in downtown Toronto.
In its 24th year, the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant has grown to be the city’s largest beauty pageant. Fairchild Television has been working tirelessly to ensure that this annual event, watched by thousands across the country, will be memorable for all. In addition to the national broadcast, the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant 2018 Final will also be streamed live in 360° video format.
This year, the Pageant was fortunate to be able to invite two popular artists from Hong Kong: Kenneth Chan and Hugo Ng as guest emcee and guest performer respectively.
Kenneth Chan is no stranger to the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant, as he was the guest emcee for the Pageant back in 2016. He talked about his love for Toronto and how Toronto will always hold a special place in his heart. Chan is a former artist for Hong Kong’s Asia Television Limited (ATV). In 1998, he gained popularity from his role in the “My Date with a Vampire” trilogy. However, his accomplished career path skyrocketed after hosting the Hong Kong version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” in 2001. In 2007, he signed with a record company in Mainland China, hoping to expand into the music business.
Another popular artist – Hugo Ng was unable to attend because the scheduled flight was cancelled due to technical issues but sent his regards to all in attendance via video. He also expressed his excitement for his Toronto singing debut, and for the chance to be able to share the stage with our ten finalists. Born in Singapore, Ng rose to fame in his hometown in the 1980s. He signed with Hong Kong’s Television Broadcasting Limited (TVB) in 1987 and acted in shows that would later go on to become timeless classics. In 2015, Ng returned to TVB from an acting hiatus and left a deep impression on viewers worldwide with his portrayal of a real-estate mogul turned madman in “Brother’s Keeper II”.
Chan will once again take the stage as a guest emcee for the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant 2018, alongside famous program hosts Leo Shiu and Yi Qin. The judging panel is comprised of famous stage and fashion designer Clifford Yong, Miss Hong Kong Pageant 2017 Winner Juliette Louie, famous television and radio host Chung Ming Poon, famous model Ishie Wang and Professor Li Ren Ke, Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiovascular Surgery, University of Toronto and Winner of 2018 Mandarin Profile Entrepreneurs -The Greatest Contribution to Society Award. The auditor for the Pageant is Alexis Yam, CA.
Not only are our finalists competing for the title of champion, first runner-up and second runner-up, but they are also vying for the Kingscross Hyundai Miss Photogenic Award, the Bigen Hair Products Most Silken Hair Award, and the Standford International College Most Talented Award. Prior to the final, Fairchild Television also organized multiple online voting contest to allow the audience to gain a deeper understanding of this year’s finalists: the “Brightest Teeth Voting” contest (sponsored by Bamburgh Dental Dr. Edward Lee), the “Guess Who Is Miss Photogenic” contest (sponsored by Kingscross Hyundai), the “Miss Eloquence” contest (sponsored by HTL Dental) and the Photography Contest.
