Mr. Kenneth Chan

Mr. Kenneth Chan is a former artist and program host for Hong Kong’s Asia Television Limited (ATV). Famously known for his role in the “My Date with a Vampire” trilogy that started in 1998, his accomplished career path skyrocketed after hosting the Hong Kong version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” in 2001. In 2007, he signed with a record company in Mainland China, hoping to expand into the music business. As a freelance artist, he now works in TV stations in both China and Hong Kong.

When one mentions the name Kenneth Chan, many people will often recall his time on “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”. The success of this long-running program was mainly due to Chan's talent as a host: he was flexible, agile, and could easily control the atmosphere of the audience at critical moments. It was no wonder that after the broadcast of the program, ATV ratings were stellar. Kenneth admits that during his 29 years as a program host, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" is the show that he knows audiences will remember the best.

Chan has hosted a variety of programs, including a health & wellness program called “Talker: Health Attention” that aired on Viu TV this past year. Most recently, he hosted a reality show "Path of Victors" that was launched at the end of October 2018. However, Kenneth has always wanted to break through the barrier and try different things, such as become an actor and act in a series. In the past ten years, his chances to film were drastically reduced to almost zero. It was only in 2016, after leaving ATV, that he began filming in Mainland China. For him, not only was this a turning point in his career, but also a challenging stage in his life.

Chan has had the fortune to portray many roles; from an underworld mob boss to a high-ranking, ruthless madman, he’s done it all. His most recent role in "Beautiful Trainee" and his portrayal of a model, who also doubles as a model instructor, has a good chance to draw high praise from critics. These various dramas completely alter the image that a program host would ordinarily paint: someone who wears a suit and glasses and is polite and professional.

His fans come from all over the world. In 2016, when Chan was invited to be the guest emcee for the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant, loyal fans from the United States made a special trip up north just to support him.

Chan has always said that he has a special and profound connection with Toronto. This year, he will once again take the stage as a guest emcee for the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant 2018, alongside Leo Shiu and Qin Yi.
