This year, the Pageant was fortunate to be able to invite two popular artists from Hong Kong: Kenneth Chan and Hugo Ng as guest emcee and guest performer respectively.
Kenneth Chan is no stranger to the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant, as he was the guest emcee for the Pageant back in 2016. He talked about his love for Toronto and how Toronto will always hold a special place in his heart. Chan is a former artist for Hong Kong’s Asia Television Limited (ATV). In 1998, he gained popularity from his role in the “My Date with a Vampire” trilogy. However, his accomplished career path skyrocketed after hosting the Hong Kong version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” in 2001. In 2007, he signed with a record company in Mainland China, hoping to expand into the music business.
Another popular artist – Hugo Ng was unable to attend because the scheduled flight was cancelled due to technical issues but sent his regards to all in attendance via video. He also expressed his excitement for his Toronto singing debut, and for the chance to be able to share the stage with our ten finalists. Born in Singapore, Ng rose to fame in his hometown in the 1980s. He signed with Hong Kong’s Television Broadcasting Limited (TVB) in 1987 and acted in shows that would later go on to become timeless classics. In 2015, Ng returned to TVB from an acting hiatus and left a deep impression on viewers worldwide with his portrayal of a real-estate mogul turned madman in “Brother’s Keeper II”.
Chan will once again take the stage as a guest emcee for the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant 2018, alongside famous program hosts Leo Shiu and Yi Qin. The Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant 2018 Photography Contest, organized by Fairchild TV and co-organized by Talentvision, Fairchild Radio, and Popular Lifestyle Entertainment Magazine, was held at 7:30pm on November 24th at First Markham Place. The Mall was already packed with fans and photographers at early hours who longed for the public debut of the ten finalists.
Some thirty photographers participated in the Contest. Even more exciting was that this was the public debut of the finalists. Our viewers had a great opportunity to see the ten beautiful girls at a close distance.
The first outfit consisted of sporty and stylish shorts. This outfit was accessorized by sunglasses, with a unique and striking design, that the finalists showcased on stage. It was then followed by the exquisite, yet elegant, cocktail dresses revealing their perfect figure while doing the catwalk in pairs on the stage. Their beauty comes from their self-confidence after partaking in rigorous catwalk and choreography training sessions for the past two months. With experience from the first two parts of the fashion show, the ten finalists entered the latter part of the show with excitement. The third part of the show consisted of an elegant event gown. Each finalist took the stage on her own to model and reveal her streamed-line pageant figure. The grand finale with this stylish and elegant evening gown wrapped up the night at First Markham Place in high spirits.
The response to the Photo Contest was overwhelming. All participated photographers were astounded to see the ten amateur models posing for the Contest. The catwalk music and the clicking sound of a camera, combined with pricey camera lenses, filled the whole venue. It was music to everyone’s ears. A winning photographer will be selected to win a bottle of award-winning ice wine, sponsored by Willow Spring Winery. The result will be announced on our website.
Viewers can get to know more about each of the ten finalists and stay up-to-date on their ventures (including all pageant activities such as photo shoot, promo shoots, catwalk training, choreography classes and visits to charity organization) by visiting our website.
Please stay tuned to the live telecast of the 2018 Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant Final on Fairchild TV on Friday, December 14th at 8:30pm.

The ten Miss Chinese Toronto contestants visited Mon Sheong long-term care center earlier and gathered together with the elders to have fun in creating a pumpkin-themed Thanksgiving decoration workshop. Each contestant empowers with charms and confidence to team up with one elder to decorate the pumpkin. Performances were followed by the contestants after the workshop. Some played the piano for the elders, and some played the guzheng, some contestant performed in group singing and some danced to perform classic golden song. Contestants were grateful that they could have the opportunity to meet with the elderly and feel happy and honored.
