1. How do you define success? How would you achieve the success you have defined?
To me success is achieving a goal that is important to me and while making a positive impact on others. To achieve this, I would set clear, actionable goals, work diligently towards them, and continue seeking growth and learning opportunities. Even when faced with obstacles I understand that as long as I persevere, I am able to reach my goal.
2. If you had the opportunity to establish a charitable organization, what issue would you focus on?
If I had the opportunity to establish a charitable organization that focused on art or music providing access to arts education for underserved communities. The organization would aim to offer free art and music classes, workshops, and resources to individuals who might not otherwise have access to these opportunities. The goal would be to foster creativity and personal development while also bridging the gap between different socioeconomic groups. The organization would help ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, has the chance to experience and benefit from the transformative power of art and music.
3. What Chinese cultural traditions do you particularly cherish? Why?
I particularly cherish Chinese New Year: This vibrant celebration marks the beginning of the lunar year with family reunions, special meals, and various customs like giving red envelopes and wearing traditional Chinese clothing. During this celebration we can enjoy cultural performances, like lion dance, Chinese dance, and traditional Chinese music and music played on Chinese instruments. It is a time where we are proud to show and represent our culture and heritage.
4. Any family traditions that you would like to pass on to your next generation?
A tradition I’d like to pass on is a yearly family volunteer day. Choosing a day each year to volunteer together for a cause or organization can instill values of empathy, generosity, and community service in future generations. It’s a way to give back to the community while spending quality time together, fostering a sense of shared purpose and social responsibility. This tradition not only strengthens family bonds but also helps build a legacy of compassion and civic engagement.
5. What would your 10-year-old self-think about you participating in the Miss Chinese Toronto pageant?
My 10 year old self would be very proud and ecstatic that I am participating in the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant this year. I‘ve grown up watching MCTP pageants on TV so it has always been my dream to become one of the beautiful and smart girls onstage. She would be so amazed that I have become a person that is confident, pretty inside and out, kind, graceful that she dreams of becoming.

6. What part of your daily life do you look forward to the most?
I look forward to getting ready every day. I enjoy putting my makeup on, doing my hair, and choosing an outfit for the day. What makeup look will I go for today? What shoes would I wear with these pants? To me getting ready is not only for aesthetics but also is another form of art. Makeup is a form of artistry and so is fashion. It is a way in which I can express myself.
7. Do you consider yourself an extrovert or an introvert? Please provide an example
I consider myself an extroverted-introvert. I enjoy meeting new people and having conversations with others. I like learning new things about other people and going to group gatherings. But I prefer deeper, more meaningful connections rather than surface-level interactions. However, I am actually an introvert. I like to be alone sometimes. I enjoy my own company and can be very independent. I observe others more than I talk. I like to socialize but it can be draining and I’ll need time to recharge.
8. If you had the opportunity to have a conversation with a historical figure, who would you choose? What question would you ask him or her?
I would love to have a conversation with Princess Diana. She was a figure of immense public interest who navigated the complexities of royal life with both grace and vulnerability. I would ask her the following questions: How did your experiences with charity work influence your view on the role of the monarchy in modern society? What personal qualities or values did you rely on most to cope with the pressures and challenges you faced? How did you approach maintaining your identity and personal passions amidst the expectations and constraints of royal life?
9. If you could live in a Disney movie, which one would you choose?
I would choose to live in Beauty and the Beast. The enchanted castle, with its talking furniture, offers a unique living environment. Living there would mean being surrounded by the beautiful French countryside, and I will have access to an incredible library. I would choose to be Belle in the movie. What makes Belle special is her inner strength and kindness. She is imaginative, compassionate, intelligent, and courageous. She has all the qualities that I would like to have.
10. If you were a piece of art, what form or style do you think you would take? Why?
If I were a piece of art, I think I’d take the form of a colourful dual-chrome abstract sculpture. Abstract art allows for fluidity and complexity, much like how I process ideas and adapt to different conversations. The layers, colors, and patterns in abstract works reflect how I combine diverse elements and perspectives to create meaning. Why abstract? Because there’s a sense of limitless possibilities and freedom in the form. Each person can interpret it differently. I choose dual-chrome because depending on where you stand or what light you see the sculpture in the colour is different. Which represents the many layers that I have and how different I am depending on the light that you see me in. I choose a sculpture because I don’t want to be seen as 2D, I want to have dimension so you can physically see the unique sides of me.
